Back to Basics Part II
Have you ALT TABBED yet? If not, why not? It won't hurt anything.
Moving on to today's basic we are going to focus on the control key. Pressing this key, typically labeled Ctrl on your keyboard along with other keys allows you to do many things very quickly and efficiently. Instead of right clicking then clicking on cut, copy and paste, we can use a quick press on the keyboard to do the same thing! Let's try it.
Ctrl+x = CUT
Ctrl+c = COPY
Ctrl+v = PASTE
Those three are universal in the windows environment. You can do this with files, folders and selectable text in just about every program.
Ctrl+a = SELECT ALL
Try it now, follow it up with a Ctrl+c, open up word or notepad and end with a Ctrl+v
Ctrl+z = UNDO
Ctrl+y = REDO
Very common in the MS office suite of programs and many adobe tools. Also useful if you accidentally just sent a file to the recycle bin and want to get it back!
Ctrl+S = SAVE
Another one that is common in the MS office suite of programs and many adobe tools.
Ctrl+P = PRINT
Email, internet, and pretty much any legit program allows this shortcut.
Enough for today. Go try them! It's fun.
